3 weeks old...

Every week I intend to write something about how fantastic my little man is but I'm usually more interested in actually doing something with him than writing about him.  But tonight, Colin are snuggled in his bassinet, which was my bassinet, sleeping soundly after his first real bath so I thought I would take a moment to catch up.
Colin is doing so well.  He eats every 2-3 hours and spends more time every day awake and alert.  He is very interested in faces and loves to watch me talk to him.  Much to our delight and dismay, he started rolling over at 2 weeks!  I suppose we shouldn't be too shocked since he started pushing up and trying to hold his head up at 1 day old.  He is quite good at it now and loves to look over my shoulder at the world.  Needless to say, tummy time has become important quickly and sometimes it seems he would rather be on his tummy than anywhere else.  In fact, he would sleep on his tummy if we let him.  He loves to sit in his buzzy chair and play with his keys.  Of course, at first it was more by accident but now there seems to be some intent to reaching for them.  Colin has also found my hair and loves to hold on to it.

At his two week check-up Colin weighed 10lbs 4 1/2 oz!  That's our big boy!  He has already outgrown some of his newborn clothes and we skipped the #1 size diapers and went ahead to the #2 size.  They are really meant for 12 -14 lbs (or something like that) but they are working perfectly for Colin!  He's not chunky by any stretch just a solid little boy.

Rayvn is the best Nana Dog ever and is constantly checking in on her baby.  When new people visit she is quick to get between them and Colin.  She is never mean but just wants folks to know that he is her baby!  Bailey and Smokey seem to have accepted that Colin is sticking around and Bailey has become very interested in nursing.  It seems to be her favorite time to come check him out.  Both cats love to sit in the windows in the nursery.

I had the most wonderful first Mother's Day with my boys.  We went to Second Sunday Brunch where we sat in the shade, celebrated with a mimosa from Sarah and showed off the little fellow.  That was followed by a long afternoon nap for the whole family.  It really was the perfect day.  I think being a Mommy is pretty awesome.
